About West Munroe

West Munroe, also known as Christopher Sommer, is a Houston native who has been working as a producer in Los Angeles for several years. His passion for music started at an early age, and after the death of his younger brother, he began to pursue it more seriously. Munroe’s early influences on the guitar included Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, B.B. King, John Mayer, Eric Gales, and Gary Clark Jr. He also drew inspiration from the music of Marvin Gaye, Nat King Cole, and Frank Sinatra.

Munroe attended a performing arts school in Houston, which has seen many notable musicians as alumni, including Robert Glasper, Chris Dave, Bryan Michael Cox, and Beyoncé. He later attended Berklee College of Music, where he began producing, writing, and performing his own music.

Now based in Los Angeles, Munroe has been actively developing his skills as a producer, collaborating with various artists in the industry. Recently, he received recognition for his work on DeJ Loaf’s song “Melodies From Heaven”. Munroe remains focused on creating and experimenting with music as he moves forward in his career as a producer and artist in Los Angeles.
